My kingdom for a decent political party

What a truly depressing time for thinking about politics and the state of America.  We have over 3 years of Bush left, 2 houses of government controlled by the Republicans who are intent on selling out the country to the highest bidder and a Supreme Court preparing to shift to the right.  FEMA was proven to be headed by a bunch of Republican hacks with no experience in disaster management.  We are running extraordinary debt, putting Reagan's to shame.  Oil's profits are through the roof while the cost of gas has risen about a buck since last year.  Iraq is a massive clusterfuck.  No WMDs were found. Bush had no plan once the war was over. The Iraqi army was disbanded. Saddam's weapons caches were undefended, allowing insurgents to loot them.  The insurgency is only increasing and killing more Americans; & there is no end in sight and no guarantees once we leave that it all won't just collapse into a massive civil war and haven for terrorists.  Poll after poll shows Bush & Congress with very low approval ratings.  Yet it doesn't seem the Democrats have any balls whatsoever.  There is no coheriant plan.  No overall vision.  No message that can get hammered into the press and the minds of the Americans how we can turn all this around.

As awful as Bush and most of the Republican party is anymore, at least they stay on message and are willing to follow through on their rhetoric.  The Dems seem to be trying to thread the middle and attempt to win by hoping the Repubs just completely fall apart.  If the Bush years prove anything, it is people want good leadership with a strong vision, even if it isn't exactly what they believe.  Besides the right wing robots that would vote for any loon backed by the Republican party, most Americans will look at things a bit more deeply, or at least something further than naked partisanship.  To be continued...
